I have ordered a DigiQ II and am awaiting its arrival. I am wondering about drilling the BGE though the lower band to pass the probe wires through. My concern is not the drilling as I have drilled ceramic and masonry before with success but do wonder how the heat will impact the newly drilled hole. I wonder if the hole in the lid (for the thermometer) is drilled before or after the ceramic is fired? If it is drilled after the firing then I should be ok but if it is done before the firing I would be worried that the heating and cooling could result in cracking. Any ceramic engineers (or other experts) out there with thoughts or input?
